I collaborate with other organisations in order to look at information and kind of figure out new techniques and incorporate those techniques within the knowledge architecture framework. So I incorporated data science into that model and built upon that model to be able to expand upon it and build a mechanism that allows anybody, depending on what data they have, to utilise these concepts and get the information out of that data.Īre you working with other people or organisations on this? I thought that we had knowledge management and informatics but we still did not have a good way of extracting that knowledge from that data. I kind of liked that concept, but as I was looking through it, I realised that there was something missing and that was the data science piece. I did come across a gentleman, Tom Reamy, who talked about knowledge management from the scope of knowledge management and informatics. On Knowledge Architecture - if you do a search on it - you will find some things but people define it differently. It is something that I had read about but I have never come across anybody that uses these same three things. Is this Knowledge Architecture something that you developed yourself? I use those three things together to get that information which, in turn, allows me in the case of Neo4j to be a bit more robust in how I manage to present that information to my end users. I use correlation analysis to show documents that were similar to each other and to be able to get that correlation across different topics. I deal with the topic modelling that I apply to those lessons to be able to help users find the answers a lot faster. In the case of those lessons learned I apply topic modelling. The data science is how I group and cluster and identify the documents and actually get that knowledge out of there. ![]() The Informatics piece is the framework of the applications that I utilise to transmit the data to my end-users, in this case Neo4j. It’s an authentic plaster made from lime, marble, and other minerals and natural elements. Last year when I was planning out plaster range hood, I discovered FirmoLux. Use the Best Plasterīefore starting a plaster project, it’s important that you use the best product possible to ensure you get the best results. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how I created a concrete look on one of the fireplaces in my sister-in-law’s house using Venetian plaster. But there is a way to achieve a really nice concrete look using Venetian plaster. However, adding a solid concrete wall or fireplace after the fact is usually not an option. You can download a high resolution version of this texture and a matching bump map or CAD hatch (compatible with AutoCAD and Revit) using Architextures Create with a Pro Subscription.I love the look of concrete and it’s a great way to add an industrial or modern vibe to a room. It can be used as a SketchUp texture, Revit material or imported into Photoshop for use in 2D illustrations. This image is seamless, meaning it can be tiled repeatedly for use in architectural drawings and 3D models. Contemporary uses of Venetian plaster in minimalist spaces simultaneously bring warmth and a focus to the locations in which it is specified. Lime plaster is often sought after for bright, light, airy domestic and public spaces due to the dynamic, visually stimulating changes of colour between warm light and shimmering reflections, creating a light, tranquil feel. This particular Venetian plaster is a pastel, orange-brown clay tone with brighter, darker red and brown shaded highlights and lighter, off-white, cream and light orange tones. This is enhanced by Venetian plaster’s renowned play with light, where the intensive layering of thin, semitransparent coats form an iridescent sheen. The neutral, cool, Earth tones and gentle enhancement of natural light are make Venetian plaster a popular choice for background walls holding paintings and artwork in galleries, for calming environments in care settings, or reducing stress in education establishments and workplaces, establishing visually quiet, relaxed atmospheres. Typically applied to walls and ceilings internally, lime plaster is an excellent natural material pairing for offsetting other natural materials such as stone, timber and metals. The use of plaster is becoming considerably more common now thanks to contemporary technology lime plasters are much easier to apply and more durable than traditional variants. Lime plasters are also breathable and nontoxic, making them environmentally sustainable and moisture and mould resistant as they allows moisture to escape from the substrate without building up. This allows for quick and easy fixes, where a damaged portion can easily be re-plastered and blended in to the existing wall, while being as flexible and easy to apply as most paints. The multitude of layers help improve longevity and reduce the impact of scrapes and scratches: Modern lime and Venetian plater are durable and resilient, being easy to wipe clean, or have scrapes and marks removed by sanding or light cleaning, without the need to completely re plaster the whole area or surface, due to advancements in plaster mixes and technology. When it is heavily layered as is definitive of Venetian plaster, it creates patches of differing tones and shades due to the different drying rates of the rich layers combined with the oxidisation of the lime plaster when exposed to air, turning the damp putty back to limestone as it dries. Venetian plaster is the term given to a particular application of aggregate free lime plaster, a mixture of water and lime, commonly crushed limestone or chalk, improving adhesion and weather resistance. The image represents a physical area of 2000 x 1500 mm (78.7 x 59.1 inches) in total.ĭating back millennia to Indian temples, Egyptian tombs and ancient Greek and Roman urban architecture, plaster is a protective coating applied to walls and ceilings to protect the surfaces from damage, add a decorative coating to a feature wall, or provide a smooth finish to an otherwise rough structure such as concrete blockwork, stock bricks or timber sheeting. Overall, the Jabra Evolve2 40 is a budget friendly, great sounding, comfortable headset that makes using it with Microsoft Teams a breeze with its plug-and-play ability and no software to download. Unlike noise cancellation, which is a microphone noise reducing feature designed to give your callers a better sound experience, ANC is designed to give you, the headset wearer, the ability to have control over the noise in your work environment. If you’re unfamiliar with what ANC is, it’s an electronic feature that helps to remove sound from your environment so you can maintain your concentration. If I were to point at one drawback of the Evolve2 40, I have to say that it lacks the feature of Active Noise Cancellation, or ANC for short. That was something I really didn’t expect from this headset, but it delivered quite well on the sound overall. And while on the subject of sound, the ear speakers are surprisingly good as well for business calls and even music. Whether you’re talking in a quiet environment, or even one that has some distracting noise this headset does a decent job to allow your voice to be heard loud and clear. In terms of sound quality, the microphone sounds quite good. Lightweight which means if the headset will be used for long periods of time, then it will be comfortable for anyone to use it all day. What this means in a practical sense is that this isn’t a heavy headset. It tips the scales at 3.9 ounces for the mono version, and 6.6 ounces for the duo model. In terms of weight, this headset weighs about the same as an iPhone 12. You can not only take and end a call from the headset, but you can also mute and unmute the call from it as well. This makes routine calls far more convenient and less cumbersome. Our top pick is: Jabra Evolve2 40īecause this is a Teams certified headset, you can access calls directly from the headset rather than through the application. This could be for someone who works in a private office or at home where noise isn't an issue. The headset for this category is designed for use in those environments that are quiet. ![]() So, I guess I'll monitor and see what happens. The battery has a build-in battery management system (BMS). Just because the temperature outside is that cold doesn't mean the batteries are getting that cold in an enclosed area. Battle Born lithium-ion batteries are true deep-cycle batteries, they can repeatedly be discharged a full 100 without damage. I'd say the heater isn't a must but if your able to see the temps on your battery i'd just monitor them to see how cold they're actually getting. Here's the response I got back (within two hours on a Sunday!!!): I told them where and how the batteries are installed, that I have a remote temp sensor mounted on one of the battery boxes that I can monitor inside, and that the average low temps in Aberdeen for January and February are 26 and 27 deg. I decided to double-check and used BB's contact form to ask more questions. ![]() On the high end of temperature range, the batteries will shut down once 135☏ is reached. Insulated battery boxes, heating blankets, and placing your battery bank inside your RV will help keep the temperature stable. Reading on the Battle Born web site, I found the following in the FAQs:īattle Born Batteries protect themselves from charging in cold temperatures and won’t accept a charge once the internal cell temperature drops to 24☏. Although the song by Buffalo Springfield is one of my all-time favorites (yes - I'm that generation), this post is not about the song. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see that yellow grease in the picture above.Įric said the wings were good, but they weren’t the “best he’s ever had”. The pizza at La Nova was a little more greasy, maybe partly due to the good number of pepperoni they threw on. This also could have been because we couldn’t wait for it to cool down to dig in. The crust here was a little thinner but it was topped with the same amount of cheese, which oozed off of the pizza like crazy. The verdict: not as good as our first pizza stop of the day, Deniro’s. We ordered a small cheese and pepperoni, and Eric also ordered a side of the wings. ![]() We decided to sit down and eat, since we didn’t feel like just bringing a couple of slices back to our hotel, and we wanted to see some more of the local scene (which included a homeless woman on drugs coming into the pizza place every 15 minutes to harass the customers and staff). For a Friday night, the place had a huge delivery wait line, and plenty of people who stopped in for slices. It was clear when we were there that La Nova has a huge local following, even with all of the other pizza places around Buffalo. Not surprisingly, it also claims to have some of the best wings in Buffalo. The whole restaurant has a very 50’s-vibe, with red tables and walls and old pictures everywhere. It probably looked exactly the same back then as it did when we stopped in for dinner. It claims to be the largest independent pizzeria in the US (although I don’t think they’ve updated their website because the last time we checked, it was only ranked at #20). La Nova has been around since 1957, which is pretty impressive. Our second pizza stop in Buffalo was at La Nova. The good part of timing the trip like this, though, was that there were very few people at the park and we had great views of the snowy falls! We didn’t stay there too long, because it was cold and windy, and more importantly, we had more pizza to eat! There really isn’t too much to do around Buffalo, aside from visiting the Falls. The last two places on this mini-road-trip coming up next week!Īfter our first pizza stop, we headed up to Niagara Falls. But Eric enjoyed them the next night for dinner and said they held up pretty well.Īfter lunch, we hit the road to head down to Cleveland. These Buffalo pizzas are heavy! (And the baby bump in the photo on the left means that I don’t have as much space for pizza anymore to begin with). ![]() We didn’t quite finish this pizza either and had to take some leftover slices to go in the car. We thought it was really similar to the slab pizzas that we had in Maine. It was just as heavy on the cheese as the first two, but the sauce was a bit sweeter and the crust was fluffy without being overwhelming. This ended up being our favorite pizza place in Buffalo. We were not surprised to see that they also serve wings but unfortunately we didn’t get to try them. We ordered a half size, topped with half meatballs (honestly, we were getting a bit tired of pepperoni). Here, you can order a full or a half pizza, which is nice. It still seems to have most of its business as a take-out pizzeria because the only seating area is a few stools at a high counter along the far wall. In the 1980’s, it became the first restaurant to offer take-out pizza in Buffalo. It originally was a bocce ball club, with courts in the yard and sandwiches and drinks inside. After we checked out of our hotel, we drove down to Bocce Club Pizza and got there right at noon when it opened.īocce Club Pizza was opened even before La Nova, in 1946, when the owner bought a pizza oven after WWII.
